Llewellin Setter

Bob Bailey On Training Puppies...

Once you break your puppy to a leash, you can do a lot of things with him. I like to show him a live bird every two or three days and play a lot of games with him. This will build his interest in birds and make him a more aggressive hunter for birds in the field. There are a lot of things you can do with him: playing games, retrieving, teaching him to come to the whistle, teaching him to heel, and other things as well. You can teach him a lot of things, but the most important thing is to show him some live birds because some day he will be hunting birds. You want to breed with the idea of creating puppies that have a natural instinct to love birds.
